Stars From Another Sky Pt. 1 gathers early South Asian film songs from 1932-1939, when sound cinema was still closely tied to musical theatre and leading actors were often singers too. The set captures a formative pre-playback era through expressive filmi performances spanning dark, brooding material and brighter orchestral colour.
