On Cotton Crown, The Tubs sharpen their mix of jangling guitars and bittersweet, self-deprecating writing. 'Freak Mode' and 'Narcissist' make lively songs out of discomfort, while 'Chain Reaction' pushes the tempo. The closing 'Strange' lends a more exposed emotional weight to the band's second album, first issued in 2025.
