The Pharcyde's second album trades some of the debut's loose chaos for a richer, more reflective feel, with the group stretching into jazzier arrangements and a more lived-in groove. It sits at a key point in their catalogue: still playful, but sharper around fame, relationships and the pressure that followed Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde.
Jay Dee's touch runs through the record, and the singles still hit exactly right - the glide of Runnin' and the stoned swing of Drop are only part of what makes this one of the defining West Coast rap albums of the mid 1990s.
