Surfbeat is the Challengers' 1963 debut and still sounds wired straight to the amp. Fender twang, rapid picking and scene-defining covers sit next to originals that helped map the California instrumental surf sound, making this seaglass blue reissue an easy one for anyone who likes their rock'n'roll with plenty of reverb.
