Best Of Friends is a covers set, but it never feels throwaway. Sparkle Jets UK use songs from the late 1990s LA pop underground as a way of mapping their own scene, turning the album into both tribute and celebration. The performances are bright, affectionate and full of the band's usual guitar-pop zip, with enough variation across the four sides to keep it lively.
