An unearthed Roy Ayers gem from 1977, Reaching For The Highest Pleasure is all fluid vibraphone lines, deep groove and easy soul-jazz lift. It feels beautifully poised rather than flashy, with the kind of relaxed swing that makes Ayers' late-70s work so enduring. On the reverse, Pepe Bradock's main mix of I Am Your Mind (Part 2) stretches the mood into something hazier and more cosmic.
Small-format wax, but a serious record for jazz-funk and Balearic-minded crates.
