Radio Experiment Rome February 1981 captures Robert Wyatt in an exploratory, studio-based mode, assembling voice, piano, percussion and found sounds into pieces that move between song fragment, free improvisation and abstract collage. It is one of the more open-ended corners of his catalogue, but it still carries his unmistakable melodic instinct.

Opium War and Heathens Have No Souls anchor side one, while Holy War, Billie's Bounce and the long Prove Sparse make side two especially revealing. A fascinating Wyatt document from the early 1980s, restless and deeply personal.

1. Opium War

3. L'albero Degli Zoccoli
