Written for the early-70s adventure film The Light at the Edge of the World, this Piccioni score balances danger, romance and isolation with real sweep. Brass, organ and strings give the music a dramatic edge, but the recurring Emily Jane material keeps pulling the record back toward something more tender. Across four vinyl sides it plays like a substantial, fully developed score rather than a highlights package.
