A deep Brazilian find from 1979, Um Grito De Guerra moves between jazz, MPB and groove-led arrangements with a sense of theatrical sweep. Pedrinho Sampaio gives the record plenty of harmonic colour, but it never loses its rhythmic pull, whether the band leans into funk, orchestral motion or a more reflective mood. Rio Negro and Correnteza are standouts, though the whole album works as a beautifully rediscovered full statement.
