My Arms Your Hearse is leaner and more ghostly than the later Opeth epics, but no less powerful. The songs move like chapters, pulling death metal force, acoustic shadow and narrative flow into one of the band's most gripping 1990s statements.
This half-speed remastered edition comes on translucent purple vinyl with an obi-strip. "When" and "Demon Of The Fall" are the obvious standouts, but the whole album works best as a single dark arc.
