In Pas(s)ing places Mick Goodrick's guitar at the centre of a spacious ECM quartet date, recorded in 1978 and first issued in 1979. The writing is patient, melodic and quietly exploratory, with John Surman, Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette giving the music a fluid chamber-jazz lift. This gatefold LP edition is a strong pick for listeners who like jazz that leaves room for tone, texture and movement.
