Preacher's Sigh & Potion: Lost Album shows a different side of Matthew Dear - still shaped by electronic instinct, but routed through guitar, atmosphere and a dusty, homespun feel. Originally recorded in the late 2000s and finally issued later, it plays like a missing chapter in his catalogue, where loop-based thinking, folkish textures and soft-focus rhythm all sit in the same frame.
Muscle Beach, Sow Down and Hikers Y set the tone early, but the whole record rewards a front-to-back listen, moving from skewed songcraft into more ambient and reflective corners by the close.
