Lou Donaldson's early-1960s Blue Note session has the easy swing and sharp melodic instinct that made his alto saxophone so engaging. Pianist Horace Parlan and trumpeter Bill Hardman help give these hard-bop performances their lift. The bluesy 'Blues For JP' sits beside fresh takes on 'The Man I Love' and 'Softly As In A Morning Sunrise'. This LP returns the complete album to vinyl.
