Machine Music is a key document of British experimental composition, pairing John White's dry, process-driven "machine" pieces with Gavin Bryars' long-form guitar work on the flip. It is spare, sly and absorbing rather than academic, and this reissue brings the album's patient repetitions and odd humour back into focus.
