Night Fishing On A Calm Lake brings Jerkcurb back with songs that feel woozy, homespun and oddly expansive all at once. The record drifts between indie rock, dubby haze and bedroom-pop melody, but it never loses its own internal logic or soft-focus atmosphere.
The title track, Too Much Intelligence and Larchmont give the album some of its strongest pull, though the whole LP works best as a single late-night mood. A slow-burning second album with plenty of texture and a very particular world of its own.
