Perpetual Burn is Jason Becker's shred landmark: precise, melodic and fearless without collapsing into empty speed. Altitudes, the title track and Temple Of The Absurd still sound outrageous, but there is real compositional weight underneath the technique. A defining instrumental metal LP from the late 80s and a must for guitar-led heavy music.
