Foster Sylvers' self-titled 1973 debut is one of those records that earns its reputation quickly. He was only 11 when it was made, but the performances never feel like a novelty - just assured, bright soul music with real charm, clean hooks and an easy groove from start to finish.
'Misdemeanor' is the obvious anchor, but the album runs deeper than its hit, with 'Big Things Come In Small Packages' and 'More Love' helping make the set such a rewarding listen. A joyous early-'70s soul LP and a welcome reissue.
