Originally released in 1976, Sou Filho Desse Chao is one of those Brazilian albums that opens wider the longer it plays. Eduardo Araujo and Silvinha pull Bahian rhythm, funk, soul, rock and psychedelia into the same frame, and the result has the loose, exploratory feel that makes so many great records from that period so addictive.
Sou Filho Deste Chao and Circulo Vicioso land straight away, but the whole set is full of movement, from the capoeira charge to the softer swing of Manda Embora A Tristeza. A brilliant rediscovery on vinyl.
