Recorded in 1960 and first issued in 1961, Motor City Scene is a hard bop session built around the meeting of Donald Byrd and Pepper Adams. Its Detroit connection and compact five-track programme give the record a direct, ensemble-led character, moving from Stardust into originals including Philson and Bitty Ditty. This numbered 180g pressing brings the album back to vinyl.
