Clifford Jordan and Ran Blake meet on Masters From Different Worlds with exactly the tension the title promises: Jordan's full-bodied tenor against Blake's shadowy, dramatic piano language. Recorded in 1989 and originally issued in the 1990s, it is spacious, nocturnal jazz that lets every pause and response matter.
