Powerhouse captures Chester Thompson's 1971 Black Jazz session in a sweet spot between soul-jazz drive and looser jazz-funk movement. There is plenty of room in the playing, but the record never drifts - Mr T and Trip One set up the groove-heavy side one before Weird Harold and Power House bring it home.
