Passing Ships is a bigger, more orchestrated Andrew Hill statement, recorded in 1969 and built around rich horn writing, unusual voicings and that unmistakable sense of forward motion. The Tone Poet edition restores one of his most expansive sessions, from the title track's drift to the bright lift of 'Noon Tide' and the long-view closer 'Yesterday's Tomorrow'.
