This self-titled set from Andres Y Sus Estrellas has the charge of a proper salsa band record: punchy arrangements, strong percussion and enough melodic snap to keep the whole thing moving. It comes out of the rich Venezuelan scene of the 1970s and still feels immediate rather than archival.
The grooves are tight, the horns cut through cleanly and there is no shortage of dancers' favourites across the running order. A welcome reissue of a scarce LP with real floor power.
