Pianoscope is the debut Alexandra Streliski album that introduced the intimate, cinematic style she would become known for. These pieces are concise and melodic rather than showy, with enough repetition and space to let the emotional weight build naturally. If you come to modern classical records looking for atmosphere as much as virtuosity, this one still lands with real quiet force.
