Alain Goraguer's score for La Planete Sauvage is still one of the great leftfield soundtracks - eerie, playful and completely unmoored from ordinary film-music logic. The themes slip between jazz-funk pulse, psych oddity and dreamlike orchestral writing, which is exactly why the record has kept drawing listeners well beyond the film itself.
